sometimes it hits me—
i’ve come to realize
i am not someone’s singular best friend.
not in the way
that goes both ways.
i am many people’s best friend,
as many people are mine;
but never one-to-one.
when was the last time
i was someone’s first priority,
who was equally my first priority too?
what a lonely feeling—
to never truly be alone,
but still feel lonely.
there is nothing i seem to want more right now
than to be wanted by someone
just as much as i want them.
yet, what a blessing it is still,
to be seen and heard by many,
in a world so large
and a universe so vast.
