are we all just blind to our own:
faults,
ignorance,
stupidity?
do we not see the way others treat us?
it’s like looking at someone you only believe is “the one”
with rose-colored lenses.
do we walk this life
with our blinders on?
what more does it take
for us to learn to stand up for ourselves?
how much more ache
from the trials of life
do we have to experience
for us to know that we deserve more—
love,
care,
kindness,
selflessness—
more than this?
is it not enough
for us to value our self-worth for what it is?
what it deserves to be—
what it means to be—
what we are on this earth,
living this life for.
could we see ourselves
in the eyes of others
and love what we see?
or would we leave
with an understanding
that some things,
some people,
some crossings of souls
are just never meant to be
more than just distant passings.
