you know things aren’t great right now.
you know things can’t get better anytime soon.
you’re so sure of what you’re feeling,
so sure of how there’s nothing left for you.
in fact,
it’s the biggest lie you tell yourself—
because maybe you don’t see
how your smile alone
ignites a fire within someone else’s embers.
you don’t see
how your laughter is music to someone else’s ears,
after all they’ve heard are things that tear them down.
you don’t see.
you don’t see
how your presence brings a warmth
to someone else’s skin,
when all they’re familiar with is a cold touch.
how could you know?
you are your own unreliable narrator,
anyways.
