sticks to my teeth
like expired gum.
the bitterness of my frustration
sits like an ice cream stain
on my lips.
the ache in my chest
hurts like a toothache—
biting down on ice,
or taking in hot tea.
it runs through the enamel,
breaking down the armor
that is the walls of my heart.
